Boerboel Nutrition Guide
A Strong Foundation Begins with Nutrition
Proper nutrition is essential for healthy growth, strong bones, balanced muscle development, and lifelong well-being. Large-breed puppies such as Boerboels benefit from a consistent feeding program designed to support steady growth rather than rapid weight gain.
Our Feeding Philosophy
At Erickson Ranch Boerboels, we believe quality nutrition and consistency are key to helping puppies develop into healthy adults. We recommend making diet changes gradually and consulting your veterinarian whenever you have questions about your dog's nutritional needs. WE feed a combination of high-quality kibble along with one fresh farm egg everymorning. WE also mxx in farm raised (cooked chicken) with our dogs' meals along with vegetables we have grown.
Feeding Your Puppy
-
Feed a quality large-breed puppy food.
-
Provide fresh, clean water at all times.
-
Feed on a consistent schedule.
-
Avoid overfeeding to reduce unnecessary stress on growing joints.
-
Transition to any new food gradually over 7–10 days.
Treats and Supplements
Treats should be given in moderation and should complement—not replace—a balanced diet. Before adding supplements, consult your veterinarian, as many complete puppy foods already provide appropriate nutrition.
Maintaining a Healthy Body Condition
A Boerboel should be lean, athletic, and well-muscled throughout development. Regular exercise, appropriate portions, and routine veterinary care all contribute to maintaining a healthy body condition.
Questions About Nutrition?
Every dog is unique. Age, activity level, and health status all influence nutritional requirements. We are happy to share the feeding program your puppy has been following and provide guidance during the transition to its new home.
