HIPS AND ELBOWS
We use Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) evaluations for the hips and elbows of our breeding dogs. OFA hip ratings of Excellent, Good, and Fair are considered within normal limits. Elbows are evaluated for evidence of elbow dysplasia. When available, each dog’s verified results and OFA certificate numbers are listed on that dog’s profile.
CARDIAC HEALTH
Our breeding dogs receive cardiac examinations, including echocardiograms and auscultation when appropriate. Cardiac results are displayed on the individual dog’s profile once completed.
GENETIC TESTING
We use DNA testing to evaluate breed-relevant genetic conditions and traits. Genetic results help guide responsible breeding decisions, but no health test can guarantee that a dog will never develop a medical condition.
STRUCTURE AND DEVELOPMENT
Healthy development also depends on appropriate nutrition, controlled exercise, healthy body condition, proper footing, and routine veterinary care. Because Boerboels grow quickly, we encourage families to avoid excessive high-impact exercise during development and to discuss nutrition and growth with their veterinarian.
OUR COMMITMENT
Health testing is one part of our breeding program. We also evaluate temperament, structure, movement, working ability, pedigree, and family health history. We are committed to making thoughtful breeding decisions and being transparent with prospective puppy families.
