Puppy Development Timeline: From Birth to Going Home

Every Week Matters

The first eight weeks of a Boerboel puppy's life lay the foundation for future health, confidence, and temperament. At Erickson Ranch Boerboels, every stage is carefully managed to give each puppy the best possible start.

Birth to 2 Weeks

Puppies spend their time nursing, sleeping, and growing. Gentle daily handling begins while they remain close to their mother.

Weeks 3–4

Eyes and ears are fully open. Puppies begin exploring, interacting with littermates, and are introduced to soft foods.

Weeks 5–6

Confidence grows through new toys, surfaces, sounds, and positive human interaction. Individual personalities begin to emerge.

Weeks 7–8

Puppies continue socialization, receive age-appropriate veterinary care, and are evaluated to help match each puppy with the right family.

Preparing for Their New Home

Before going home, puppies continue to build confidence through daily interaction and routine care. Families receive guidance to help make the transition smooth and successful.
